Village Newsletter
Letter from the Board
Dear Huntington Village Unit Owners and Residents,
We’ve had a vibrant and fruitful spring, presenting numerous opportunities for collaboration to enhance our community for everyone’s enjoyment.
Capital Assessment Community Dialogue
We thank all unit owners for their contributions to the public dialogue about the viability of the capital reserve assessment as well as on other issues throughout the year. First of all, the Board wants you to know that we heard you. Moreover, this discussion was one sign of the progress that our community has made in the past year and a half towards the stated board goals of transparency and fiscal responsibility. Going forward, once we receive all payment agreements, which are due May 28th (deadline extended by Board vote), we can budget, hire and schedule for the 2024 improvements outlined in the reserve plan.
Community Collaboration Opportunities
Moving forward together, the Board would like to solicit all unit owners to help them in the following area of responsibilities:
-
Communication: website maintenance and newsletter creation 4 times per year. (Kathleen Marshall)
-
Reserve review: twice yearly meetings with the President, Treasurer, and reserve specialist to review progress on capital improvement projects and costs with reports to the Board of any recommended action. Construction and or financial background a plus for this individual. (Mignon Tucker and Charles Crenshaw)
-
Waste and recycling: working to detect and eliminate illegal dumping trends by residents and monitoring waste and recycling options in the larger Charlottesville area. (Jimmy French)
-
Community standards: In tandem with our management company, work to identify ways to encourage compliance to ensure building safety and uniformity in our community and recommend improvements to update exteriors. (Andrea Burton)
-
Pool: work to ascertain the highest and best use of this amenity included but not limited to length of season use, safety rules and access options. (Chris Bridge)
-
Landscape maintenance: Review current state of landscape and set goals and standards to beautify and improve our natural environment. (Mignon Tucker)
-
Social: to explore, plan and execute a fall bbq, cookout for the community.
If you would like to volunteer for any of the above committees, please send an email to hvuoa133@gmail.com and the board member assigned to the committee will contact you.
New Management—MRI Communities Meet and Greet
We are very happy to welcome MRI communities to Huntington Village. Nancy Hawkins is our new manager. For now, all requests should continue to be submitted through the website. We have scheduled a meet and greet for all unit owners before the next board meeting on June 19th at 5 pm. Please join us at the pool area to get to know Nancy.

Pool Opening-Saturday, May 25
Last but not least, the pool opens on Memorial Day weekend. Please check the website for pool hours and rules at HVUOA.com.

Pool Opening and Spring Maintenance
Pool Opening
The first day of summer is not until June 20, but with 80 and 90 degree temperatures already running our air conditioners, we are looking forward to our pool opening on Memorial Day Weekend, starting Saturday, May 25th. Our pool maintenance crew will be working hard to make everything perfect between now and then. Please check the HVUOA.com website to review the pool rules so you know before you go!

Spring Maintenance
And since the weather is bringing out all the flowers (and pollen!), urges for opening windows, spring cleaning and outdoor activities, be sure to check the Huntington Village website (hvuoa.com) for the House Rules that provide guidelines for maintenance, storage, paint colors (under FAQs), owner responsibilities, use of outdoor spaces, etc. in our community so that we can all enjoy our wonderful community! If you have any questions about any projects you are planning, please send an email to hvuoa133@gmail.com.

Attempted Theft
On May 8th, on or about 9pm, one of our residents, spotted an attempted theft from another neighbor's front porch (which was also caught on video). We are grateful for this resident's vigilance and service to the community. However, we need your help identifying this individual. Please see the photo and send any information and/or videos facing the backside of 201-209 that you may have to hvuoa133@gmail.com. More importantly, if you spot this individual again, please call 911 immediately.

Slow Down!
We are fortunate to have several families with small children in our neighborhood! Please keep an eye out and be extra careful while driving through Huntington Village. Young children are at the entrance of our development to catch their bus to and from school. Residents will soon be walking to the pool and will be enjoying the summer weather. Observing the speed limit and coming to a complete stop at our stop signs will help to keep our residents both young and old safe!
